In a span of only 4 hours, we will fish for smaller species that migrate inland depending on the season and currents. We will cruise the coast of Southern Florida looking for any giveaway into an underwater ecosystem. Mahi, Tuna, Snapper, and Grouper make themselves at home underneath piles of seaweed, or driftwood.

Our mate would be happy to clean and filet your best catch of the day in honor of sharing our favorite tradition, “Catch to Cook.”

On the 6-hour trip we will cover just enough water with time to ramp up the excitement. Chasing birds and floaters that bring us to schools of Mahi, Sailfish, and Tuna. With a widened target and enough time to chase the bite, we will be going after prize fish for everyone aboard ‘Freebird.’
If you’re new to deep-sea fishing and the thought of an all-day trip makes your palms sweat, six hours is an ideal time to get oriented. We’ll let you in on some tips and tricks, talk about the fish we go for, and get your lines cast and catching. Bring some beers, kick back, and watch the reels.

10 Hour Trip

Interested in learning how to run an electric reel to catch some trophy size fish? The 8 or 10 hour trip is ideal to get a real feel for the serious sport-fisherman. We stock the boat with top-notch kites, rods and live bait (squid, ballyhoo, herring) and head anywhere from 10- 40 miles offshore into 1500-1800 ft of water. Lines expected to sing with Swordfish, Sailfish, Tuna, Kingfish, Wahoo, Bonita, White Marlin, and Sharks. Fishing in Fort Lauderdale is seasonal, every few months a different set of Big Game species migrates down the coast of Southern Florida and Captain Richard knows where to go for the big boys.
